How I record Google Earth
To record Google Earth on a PC with Windows XP, I use HyperCam with the Windows Media Video 9 compressor. I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card, and can record 720 x 484 pixels at 20fps on my nearly 4 year old system.
It sounds like this Fraps program may be better; both it and HyperCam are free to try, and Windows Media codecs are free from Microsoft.
Update: I just tried the free Fraps download. It records beautifully, but seems to record fullscreen-only to (huge) uncompressed AVI files, so you'll have to shrink and compress its output to share it.
