Top 5 Bike Racks of 2009

Some "bike racks" I saw around town this year.  Above, a double-thick fence.


Wrecks decorate racks at Cooper Square, above, while bikes pile up in Greenpoint, below.


I imagine the DOT has plans for a crew dedicated to cutting dead bikes from racks.  They'll throw the skeletons on a truck, then drive around New Jersey until they find an abandoned lot in between off ramps.  And a few years from now, on hot summer days, the bike buzzards circling above the bone pile will be visible from the High Line.
